Let’s face it, there’s no shortage of pizza places – and that’s one of the reasons why there’s Chewru. My girlfriend Autumn and I have been to Jimmi’s a few times before and enjoyed it, but all bets are off when it’s review time. Unlike some pizza places that are also trying to masquerade as Italian ‘restaurants’, Jimmi’s only has a modest eat-in offering. There are about a dozen wooden benches and tables if you want to hang out and eat; however, the one time we did so we kind of felt like the cashier was staring at us with evil eyes.
The pizzas we ordered tonight were a medium cheesesteak hoagie pizza and a mini vegetable pizza. Both were killer. The cheesesteak hoagie pizza tastes like the sandwich it’s modeled after, with shredded lettuce, tomato, and plenty of steak piled on a white pizza base. The pizza was very hot, not drippy or greasy, and the crust was just how I prefer it – crispy throughout while still being flexible enough to fold.
Autumn’s mini vegetable pizza was also piled high with toppings: fresh tomatoes, broccoli, mozzarella cheese, onions, peppers, etc. The vegetables were obviously fresh and the crust was crispy and thick. The pizza was covered in a light garlic-y oil that gave the vegetables a nice flavor without being overly greasy. A mini pizza allows you to get four generous slices out of it. Autumn can eat about half of it and be full while I can manage to chow down about three-quarters of a mini before I’m stuffed. Autumn usually orders a mini baked ziti pizza from Jimmi’s which is also delicious. Again, they don’t hold back at all on the toppings. The baked ziti pizza is covered in ziti, fresh tomato sauce, and ricotta cheese.
Jimmi’s offers a lot more than just pizza on their menu. With such good pizza, I have a hard time imagining anything else on the menu could be bad.
Pros:
- Delicious pizza loaded with toppings
- Very reasonably priced
Cons:
- Interior not conducive to eating in
- Some staff not always friendly
Our Score: 4.3 Chews
