We’ve reviewed another Voorhees-location pizza place that had a new building and fancy website. Unfortunately, the pizza was middle of the road and it forced us to keep searching Voorhees for the best pizza the town could offer. When we saw the modest Dominic’s sign on the sign of Route73, we nearly caused a three-car pileup trying to make a turn. Thankfully, we made it into the small parking lot without any exchange of insurance information. There were six of us, so we’d get to really put Dominic’s through its paces.
The interior of Dominic’s is very simple; wooden tables, chairs, and a small divider break up the dining area from larger tables to smaller ones. There are no booths, so if you’re looking for additional padding, you might have to order delivery. Dominic’s is undergoing a really nice renovation. There are now booths on the left side, marble floors, and new tables and chairs. The changes look awesome and they’ve instantly helped Dominic’s become a lot more friendly to dine-in. The staff seems only passively interested in walk-ins, and is usually busy on phone orders or watching TV that is more conveniently featured for their viewing pleasure rather than yours. No fancy LCDs and no alcohol. They’ve drastically changed their interior to a clean and inviting spot, adding a single large LCD-TV on the wall and even some decorative prints hanging behind the counter. On the outside you’ll notice a new, bright blue awning and a script ‘D’ on the front door. After years of hard work and great service, we’re happy to see Dominic’s able to re-invest in their business.
The menu is typically italian/pizza/subshop stuff that you’d find at pretty much anywhere. Nothing jumped out as unique as far as the offerings go. The waitress was polite and fairly responsive given the smaller dining room. There were a few others in the building, but it was really up to us when we wanted to order. We tried a variety of pasta dinners, cheesesteaks, cheese fries, and pizza. Everything was under $10 - hard to beat that.
Starting the pizza, we agreed it was phenomenal. Super fresh, a very nice crust, and good toppings (we tried mushroom and sausage) with plenty of flavor to them. We especially liked the the bottom of the pizza ; we felt it was pulled from the oven at exactly the right time. You could eat it straight, fold it, turn it upside down, whatever.. and it looked fantastic. The standard red sauce seemed to have good flavor, and shared the cheese in perfect proportions. It’s not the cheapest by any means, and they don’t run a lot of promotions or coupons, but they have a loyal enough following (20 votes on Chewru as of 5/28!) to not need it. Good pizza is good pizza.
The cheesesteaks were equally delicious. Loaded with beef (or chicken), it’s not easy to fit them completely into your mouth. As an added touch, they pop the roll in the oven for a little bit too, which makes the bread have a crispiness on the outside while still maintaining the tender innards. Compare this to some places that just give you a ’straight from the bag’ roll or ones that go way overboard with the toasting that makes each bite way too crunchy. One steak really should fill you up. When eaten with the cheese fries (mozzarella), there wasn’t a better one-two punch we’ve had in a while. The fries were enough for 2 or 3 people to have a good portion of. They served them in an aluminum foil container, which kept them slightly hotter than just throwing them in a basket or a plate.
We’ve also tried their wings many times, available in groups of 10, and find them to be about the best you can get from a pizza place. Cooked to a perfect near-crunchy skin without being overcooked (or worse, undercooked), they’re served in a mild sauce (that’s hotter than most other milds) with a side of blue cheese. The extra sauce is a perfect to dip your pizza slices in. =)
The pasta dinners were the only thing we weren’t as enthusiastic about, but all the same they were still good. Served with a side salad and bread (which was kind of an oddly sliced torpedo roll), the spaghetti sauce seemed on the bland side and the meatball, although more than edible, didn’t knock our socks off.
Nothing at Dominic’s is going to kill your wallet. Overall, especially if you stick to the sub-shop stuff, Dominic’s is one of the best. Try the pizza, fries, wings, and steaks and you’ll probably be hooked.
Pros:
- Great pizza and subs
- Great wings
- Modern, clean interior
- Good portion sizes and pricing
Cons:
- Dinner entrees only so-so compared to pizza and subs
Upgrades:
4/13/08 - 4.1 to 4.5 - Renovations really making this place look great!
Guru’s Score: 4.5 Chews

Subjective rating: One of the best.

Dominic’s is voorhees’ best pizza! Always fresh and delicious. On Fridays the wait is long either for delivery and sometimes pick up but you can see why as the staff work like robots to keep up with the volume of pizza’s. I’ve gotten used to it, because it’s the best and everyone knows it. I hear they are getting a fancy plasma tv, and many different upgrades to their menu. I can’t wait! Friendly service and good food make dominic’s my place!
I love Dominic’s!!!!! They have a great menu and the food is out of this world. Great place to take the family.
I have been going to dominic’s for about 18 years now. The food is always good. The fries are always golden which shows they often change the oil in their fryer. The pizza is the best. You can tell the dough is made daily and the ingredients are cut fresh all the time.
Clean place, family atmosphere, friendly service. Simply the best!
Dominic’s Pizza is an excellent retaurant. Our family has been ordering take-out from Dominic’s for over 15 years. Everything is fresh and of the best quality. Their Tuna Salad remains a favorite as well as their pizza and cheeseteaks! I have to disagree with the Chewru Guru regarding their pasta dinners. I have tasted each one and find them all delicious. Everything from the sauce to the salad is fresh and delicious. Their high standards is why they are the best!
Dominics pizza is a legend in this area. The friendliest people, freshest food freaks. They take alot of pride in their food. The new renovations, big plasma, and I hear alot more is coming! can’t wait for the new stuff on the menu. keep it up Dom’s! you dominate!
I suggest you Guru’s go back and rewrite your story. They’re renovations are beautiful. Plasma tv, new everything with a huge selection of gourmet pizza’s.

We eat at Dominic’s Pizza all the time! They have fantastic pizza and excellent sandwiches. Our favorite pizza is the Buffalo Chicken Pizza. Just the right amounts of blue cheese, chicken and hot sauce make it awesome. The cheese fries are golden and crispy and always fresh! The staff is friendly and helpful and the place is always immaculate. Everybody in town knows this place is the best!
